This is the first site I put together. This site has gone through a lot of growth and an awful lot of change! It started out as a simple static page allowing my students to download their course information and it has grown into a dynamic interactive forum.GoTakeAHike.com allows its members to interact and communicate through a live forum as the main focal point of the site. Members can learn from others, teach others, plan trips with others, and share their trip details and stories with others. Needing to grow the community, I added a live chat room to the site to allow members to communicate in real time. In order to facilitate sharing adventures of the site’s members, I added a full functioning photo gallery that is completely embedded within the site so that members are able to seamlessly transition from one section of the site to the other while staying signed in.
In order to help promote the site, I added an e-commerce store as a sub-domain of the site and added a trail database as its own subdomain too. I created the trail database off of wordpress and integrated it into the site to allow easy indexing, rating, and commenting.
